PSP Phone

Added by opengluser 2010-05-18 18:14:18 in #entertainment

I have never understood why Sony haven't done this yet, but they should create a PSP that doubles as a phone. With built in 3G it would be the best of both Worlds and allow for mobile multi-player with awesome high quality games.

The 1 Year Marriage

Added by mrcool 2010-05-20 10:59:52 in #lifestyle

Sign up to a one year marriage contract with the option, should both parties agree, to sign up for another year. The logic is simple. Like being on holiday for a set period of time one always has fun. However if you are having problems and there is an end in sight then partners have a better chance of separating on good terms.

There is also the added bonus of spreading your love over a lifetime and signing up to several contracts.

The Nutrient Recycling Soil Saving Program is, as the name implies, a way to recycle nutrients and save soil. It's essentially a mimic of the natural process of geology on a smaller time scale. It would be used to increase the nutrient value of agricultural products. One would create two basins one on top of the other The space between the two basins would allow a dredge pump to access the bottom of the lower basin. The first basin would be filled with soil and a drain would be located at the bottom to allow leach of nutrients. The second lower basin would collect the liquid and sediment and the dredge pump would pump the soil soup back to the top to be used on agricultural products once again. Gravel dust (see our global ideas bank's "Saving the Planet With Gravel Dust") could be used to supplement the soil and increase soil nutrients even further. Again these nurtients could be recycled through the dredge. Www.contourcrafting.org could be used to build the basins. Contour crafting is essentially robotically built structures.

an aside: I'm hoping to find an effective biotic "dredge pump" so this isn't patentable such as azolla, a nitrogen fixating plant used to fertilize rice paddy fields or the transpirational pull of larger trees.

Solar Collectors

Added by simonsays 2010-05-18 15:07:22 in #technology

To solve the problem with running out of fuel we should instead look to solar power.

We should place solar collectors in orbit of Earth that can collect sun light, convert it to electricity and beam it back to Earth via Microwaves.

The solar collectors would be ultra efficient as they would be outside of our atmosphere.

Considering that the PSP already has skype support, Id like the PS3 to also get it, with support for PSEye (and other cams if possible), and Singstar, Guitar Hero and RockBand microphones

Period Sync

Added by llstooljay 2010-05-25 06:04:10 in #lifestyle

I think we should over time get every women in the World to work with each other long enough that their periods sync.
In the long run every women will start and finish their period on the same days and every man will come to know this week as "The Scary Seven", but at least we'll all know our place.

Solar Plant on the Moon

Added by mrsunbeam 2010-06-02 08:56:59 in #technology

Here's an idea so crazy it might work: a solar plant on the Moon. Specifically, a 6,800 mile long solar belt that spans the Moon's equator and sends energy back to Earth with lasers and microwave power. Japanese firm Shimizu is calling their lunar solar power generation concept the Luna Ring and it's brilliantly ambitious. The way the Luna Ring works is by gathering solar energy with a 6,800 mile long solar belt across the Moon's equator that'll be transmitted to Moon-based energy conversion facilities. The converted power will then be beamed to Earth-based facilities with laser power and microwave power. Once on Earth, we'll be able turn all that power into electric power for our power grids or hydrogen fuel. Robots will handle the lunar-side construction with most building materials coming from the moon. The benefit of having solar panels on the Moon is that it eliminates inefficiency due to bad weather and allows it to achieve 24/7 continuous power generation. Oh, and the fact that we'll have a freaking power plant on the Moon sending lasers at the Earth isn't anything to sneeze at either. If this Luna Ring ever gets built it'll join a growing number of robot Moon bases in the works. Which will obviously lead to Robot Revolution with all the robots banding together and hijacking the Moon—stealing all our power in the process

Wi-Fi Car Hotspots

Added by cleverrperson 2010-05-21 17:42:59 in #entertainment

Cars should have wireless built into them and be able to communicate with each other. The cars can act as wireless extenders sending a wireless Internet signal from car to car for all to use, for such things as Internet radio or pornography.
It could also be used to transfer information about traffic via the Internet that can help others.
