Sign up to a one year marriage contract with the option, should both
parties agree, to sign up for another year. The logic is simple. Like
being on holiday for a set period of time one always has fun. However
if you are having problems and there is an end in sight then partners
have a better chance of separating on good terms.
There is also the added bonus of spreading your love over a lifetime and signing up to several contracts.

The Nutrient Recycling Soil Saving Program is, as the name implies, a
way to recycle nutrients and save soil. It's essentially a mimic of the
natural process of geology on a smaller time scale. It would be used to
increase the nutrient value of agricultural products. One would create
two basins one on top of the other The space between the two basins
would allow a dredge pump to access the bottom of the lower basin. The
first basin would be filled with soil and a drain would be located at
the bottom to allow leach of nutrients. The second lower basin would
collect the liquid and sediment and the dredge pump would pump the soil
soup back to the top to be used on agricultural products once again.
Gravel dust (see our global ideas bank's "Saving the Planet With Gravel
Dust") could be used to supplement the soil and increase soil nutrients
even further. Again these nurtients could be recycled through the
dredge. Www.contourcrafting.org could be used to build the basins.
Contour crafting is essentially robotically built structures.
an aside: I'm hoping to find an effective biotic "dredge pump" so this
isn't patentable such as azolla, a nitrogen fixating plant used to
fertilize rice paddy fields or the transpirational pull of larger
trees.

To solve the problem with running out of fuel we should instead look to solar power.
We should place solar collectors in orbit of Earth that can collect sun light, convert it to electricity and beam it back to Earth via Microwaves.
The solar collectors would be ultra efficient as they would be outside of our atmosphere.
Considering that the PSP already has skype support, Id like the PS3 to also get it, with support for PSEye (and other cams if possible), and Singstar, Guitar Hero and RockBand microphones
I think we should over time get every women in the World to work with each other long enough that their periods sync.
In the long run every women will start and finish their period on the same days and every man will come to know this week as "The Scary Seven", but at least we'll all know our place.
Here's an idea so crazy it might work: a solar plant
on the Moon. Specifically, a 6,800 mile long solar belt that spans the
Moon's equator and sends energy back to Earth with lasers and microwave
power. Japanese firm Shimizu is calling their lunar solar power generation concept the Luna Ring
and it's brilliantly ambitious. The way the Luna Ring works is by
gathering solar energy with a 6,800 mile long solar belt across the
Moon's equator that'll be transmitted to Moon-based energy conversion
facilities. The converted power will then be beamed to Earth-based
facilities with laser power and microwave power. Once on Earth, we'll
be able turn all that power into electric power for our power grids or
hydrogen fuel.
Robots will handle the lunar-side construction with most building
materials coming from the moon. The benefit of having solar panels on
the Moon is that it eliminates inefficiency due to bad weather and
allows it to achieve 24/7 continuous power generation. Oh, and the fact
that we'll have a freaking power plant on the Moon sending lasers at
the Earth isn't anything to sneeze at either.
If this Luna Ring ever gets built it'll join a growing number of robot Moon bases in the works. Which will obviously lead to Robot Revolution with all the robots banding together and hijacking the Moon—stealing all our power in the process

Cars should have wireless built into them and be able to communicate with each other. The cars can act as wireless extenders sending a wireless Internet signal from car to car for all to use, for such things as Internet radio or pornography.
It could also be used to transfer information about traffic via the Internet that can help others.
After thirty years of study, research and practical experience in Agroforestry (see previous item), Robert Hart established a small modelforest garden on his farm on Wenlock Edge, a model that could be repeated many thousands of times even by those who possess only small town gardens.
'The Forest Garden can enable a family to enjoy a considerable degree of self-sufficiency, with minimal labour'
The Forest Garden can enable a family to enjoy a considerable degree of self-sufficiency, with minimal labour, for some seven months of the year, providing the very best foods for building up positive health. It is a miniature reproduction of the self-maintaining eco-system of the natural forest, consisting entirely of fruit and nut trees and bushes, perennial and self-seeding vegetables and culinary and medicinal herbs.
Robert Hart wrote: 'It is no good waiting for the Powers-That-Be to take decisive action in the infinitely serious crisis caused by wholesale forest destruction, curbed and restricted as they are by blind prejudice and vested interests. Those who care, the ordinary people, should take action themselves to restore the earth's depleted forest cover, even though they may live in cities.'
Once established after about two years, the Forest Garden is self-perpetuating, self-fertilising, self-watering, self-mulching, self-weed-suppressing, self-pollinating, self-healing and highly resistant to pests and diseases. The only work required is pruning, controlling plants that seek to encroach on each other, and mulching with compost once a year, after the herbaceous plants die down in the late autumn. It is:
- Self-perpetuating, because all plants are perennial or active seed-seekers, such as borage and cress; self-fertilising, because deep-rooting trees, bushes and herbs draw upon minerals in the subsoil and make them available to their neighbours, and because the complex should include edible legumes such as lucerne, which inject nitrogen into the soil.
'Self-watering, because deep-rooting plants tap the spring-veins in the subsoil'
- Self-watering, because deep-rooting plants tap the spring-veins in the subsoil, even at times of drought, and pump up water for the benefit of the whole eco-system.
- Self-mulching and self-weed suppressing, because the scheme includes rapidly spreading herbs, such as the mints, and perennial vegetables, such as Good King Henry, which soon cover all the ground between the trees and bushes and thus create a permanent mulch. In fact, one main problem is to check their pervasiveness in the interests of less dominating plants.
- Self-pollinating, because all the fruit and nut trees are chosen to be mutually compatible for pollinating purposes - unless self-fertile - and also because the scheme includes many aromatic herbs and vegetables such as tree-onions and wild garlic, which undoubtedly exert curative influences on their neighbours.
- Resistant to pests and diseases, not only on account of the aromatic plants but also because any complex consisting of a wide spectrum of different plants does not allow the build up of epidemics such as is formed in monocultures.
The scheme is very highly intensive, making use of all seven 'storeys' found in the natural forest for the production of economic plants. These 'storeys' are:
- The 'canopy' formed by the tops of the higher trees;
- The planes of low-growing trees such as dwarf fruits;
- The 'shrub layer' comprising bush fruits;
- The herbaceous layer of herbs and vegetables;
- The ground layer of plants which spread horizontally rather than vertically, such as creeping thyme;
- The vertical layer occupied by climbing berries and vines;
- The 'rhizosphere', shade-tolerant root-plants.
In order to achieve maximum economy of space, these devices are employed:
(1) Some of the vegetables and herbs are grown on mounds, erected in accordance with the German Hugelkultur system.
(2) Full advantage is taken of fences for training climbing berries, such as the Japanese wineberry, and fan-trained plums.
(3) An apple hedge has been created according to the French Bouche-Thomas system, in which the trees (Allington Pippins) are planted diagonally so that they grow into each other.
(4) A hardy Canadian Brant vine is trained over the tool shed and another is to be trained up an old damson tree.
There is a 'family tree', comprising three compatible varieties of English eating apples, Sunset, Discovery and Laxton's Fortune, grafted on to a single root stock.
Conventional horticulturalists will object that food plants cannot achieve full productivity when planted in such close proximity to each other. But, as the natural forest and even the herbaceous flower border demonstrate, many plants thrive best when grown close to plants of other species. The reasons for this are contained in the science of plant symbiosis, about which very little research has been undertaken, since Ehrenfried Pfeiffer invented his system of 'sensitive crystallisation'. This is a study which must be extensively developed if Agroforestry is to attain its full potential.
'Conventional horticulturalists will object that food plants cannot achieve full productivity when planted in such close proximity to each other'
The Forest Garden's produce is health-promoting: just as in the 16th and 17th centuries, when England produced an amazing number of men of exceptional hardihood and genius, a standard article of diet was a salad, called 'sallet' or 'salgamundy', comprising a wide variety of cultivated and wild vegetables, fruits and herbs.
As for the Forest Garden helping restore the earth's forest cover, if ten trees were planted in a hundred thousand gardens, that would amount to a million trees. Quite a forest!
Multi-storey car parks look the same on every level - unless you
remember to look outside, or read the numbers, but when you're at the
last minute for an appointment it is easy to forget to do that.
I can't be the only person who has had to go up from one level to
another trying to find their car again, after parking it in a hurry. It
would be an easy thing to distinguish the different levels by using
different colours on the signage, and maybe the lift buttons,
too....and people like me (who forget to read numbers), would probably
remember the colour without any making any conscious effort. It's so
much easier to recall when you come back from the car.
I'd suggest using the rainbow spectrum because there are so many
methods for remembering it, eg Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain for
Red (lowest Floor), Orange (next level up. etc), Yellow, Green, Blue,
Indigo, Violet.
An idea evolves over time. With input from many it can develop into something much better
It seems to me that Bigady could evolve into something much bigger. Linux, a community developed computer operating system has grown so it is now a rival to Microsoft Windows. Wikipedia.org a community developed encyclopedia has grown bigger than Encyclopedia Brittanica. Bigady, a communcally developed idea bank, has yet to grow big.
Why?
I think it because Bigady has yet to tap into the power of collaboration on an idea. On wikipedia.com people build on previously written entries. So over time the entry gets edited, clarified, added to, with many experts adding there talents to the writing.
The same thing could happen on Bigady. Once someone puts an idea up, people can add to it, spin variations, come up with suggestions to overcome technical difficulties with the idea, talk about the cultural paradigm the idea is embedded in, suggest ways to implement it, suggest resources to connect to, suggest people to contact, suggest money resources to connect to etc etc.
Each idea is like a seed, and the Bigady community can water that seed so that it grows into a tree on the website.
How this done exactly would still have to be worked out. Linux and Wikipedia have worked out there own solutions.
There could be a main and an original version of the idea up on the website. And there could be at times evolutionary branches of the idea offshooting.
One possibility is to implement the wiki software on the Bigady website.
